January 12, 2012, (Sawf News) – There’s no dearth of films for actor Akshay Kumar irrespective of how they fare at the box office. Come March and he begins shooting for a thriller with director Neeraj Pandey.

The film is inspired from the infamous 1987 Opera House jewelery heist. Akshay will play the central character of the mastermind behind the theft. The actor played a con man in the 2010 Farah Khan film Tees Maar Khan.

Neeraj, who directed the critically appreciated A Wednesday, opted for Akshay because of the actor’s expertise in action. The untitled film also stars actor Manoj Bajpai in a pivotal role.

Akshay, who is currently wrapping shooting for Prabhu Deva’s Rowdy Rathore and Shirish Kunder’s Joker has stayed away from hard core action films for some time now, a genre that he started his career with in Bollywood.

Rowdy Rathore, of course, sees him go full throttle on the villain bashing.
